And So It Continues….(part 2)
So big news today in the automaker Industry….
As Both General motors, (owners of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Daewoo, GMC, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, and Vauxhill) And Chysler (owners of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep) plead for yet ANOTHER government bailout to the tune of around 8 Billion combined….The government has stated the reformation plans must be devolpoed and summitted for approval, for the idea to even be disscussed. Today was that deadline, and the automakers are clearly at whits end.
GM, faced with potential full blown bankruptcy submitted that a part of its reformation, includes killing off two of its brands Saturn, and Pontiac. To which I say, HOW ABOUT BUICK WHICH IS ONE OF THE WORST SELLING COMPANIES OUT THERE. I have a feeling more brands will join that list as time goes on, however thats not the worst of the news, Gm is indefinetly haulting production on all of its performance vehicles, for the entire company, which means, in case you were wondering, every single brand they own. take a look at those brands, aside from no more saturn redlines, and now no chance of the return of the pontiac firebird, this also means no more cadillac V-series, no more high performance Corvettes, and in fact not even anymore high performance trucks, including the small ones such as the V-8 Chevrolet Colorado, and maybe no Chevy Camaro, that was slated for production…. do I hear a casting call for a new Bumblebee..?
Dealers of such vehicles, and of the two dying brands were notified at 5:00 today of this news, and this absolutely sucks, there’s going to be a fuck ton of lay offs with this news, and not just from GM, but from all of its dealerships around the world as well.
There is good news though… at least I see it as good news. If you notice two companies in the “Big Three” (the name given to the three major U.S. automakers that has dominated the world automarket for the majority of its existence) are seeking help. But thats leaves one more…? Thats right My boys in Blue, or the Ford Motor Company, has yet to ask for a bailout, and has just realeased an orgasm of redesigned cars, some of which I am drooling over (go look at the new Taures SHO) many of which include Brand new technology, Apple wishes they had patents for. Sure Lexus tried to make the first automatic parellel parking system, but Ford released a new system that actually works, and requires the user to touch only one button. And haha it is available on almost every vehicle of theirs, not just their high end luxury brands.
All is not great for them, in fact I believe they lost about 6 billion dollars in the last reported quarter (4th 2008). However Ford’s Mark Fields, said today that it sees an upside to the GM, Chrysler Financial debacle. Basically because he sees less competition in the near future, and Ford is sitting on “A mountain of cash” lets not forget that Ford basically dominated to automarket since its introducion in 1903. All I can say its lets go ford, and for the love of god, Buy American Cars! You are hurting yourself and the American economy by not buying them. Not to mention regardless of the stigma that American cars suck, and foriegn cars are much superior, let me assure you, you are dead wrong. Anyone who wishes to challenge that I’d be more then happy to educate you. Esspecially when it comes to The Ford Motor Company and all of its brands, which include Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Volvo, and until recently also owned Jaguar, Landrover, And Aston Martin, which it still has very small stake in.
